Meta Product Browsing Ads: What It Is and Whether to Opt Out
From October 28, 2026, Meta is reportedly switching on product browsing for existing ads. Here is what it does, what to check and how to opt out.
What product browsing is
Normally, when someone taps your ad, they go to your website or product page. Product browsing changes that step for some taps. Meta describes it as an in-app experience that shows product information and personalized suggestions, which can appear before the shopper reaches your site. It already existed as an Advantage+ creative enhancement that advertisers could switch on per ad.
What changes on October 28
According to the notice Meta sent advertisers, as reported by industry press, product browsing will be added to existing ads from October 28, 2026. The reports do not make clear whether brand new ads will also default to on. Meta's stated reason is that businesses saw about 3% more conversions in its tests.
Why it matters for an online store
- Traffic may land in-app first. A shopper may see Meta's product page before your own, so your landing page may be skipped for some taps.
- Suggestions may include other products. The shopper could be shown items other than the one in your ad.
- Reports may look different. One media buyer reported that a client's traffic came mainly from a collection ad on Reels instead of the creative being tested. That is a single unverified report.
- Creative tests can get harder to read if clicks and website visits stop lining up.
How to opt out
Should you opt out?
There is no single right answer. A store with a strong product page, clean tracking and a clear offer may want to keep control of the journey. A store with many products and a weak site may benefit from Meta's product page. The safe approach is to test it.
